Allegations against Former Committee Member in Mexico City

Olivia Garza, President of the Planning Commission for Development of the Congress of Mexico City, has filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office against Salvador Rafael Munguía Pérez for the crime of false declaration. Munguía Pérez, who previously was part of the Selection Committee for the Head of the Planning Institute, submitted false documentation in order to influence key decisions for the city's development.

In this regard, Olivia Garza emphasized the importance of setting a precedent against such fraudulent actions, highlighting that those who attempt to deceive must face the consequences. She pointed out that Morena party was repeatedly warned about Munguía Pérez's lack of credentials; however, they chose to protect him, so he must now be held accountable for his actions.

Among the evidence presented to the Attorney General's Office is a letter sent by Munguía Pérez to the head of government, in which he committed to being truthful in his statements. This document was used in the ruling that named him a member of the Selection Committee, serving as a basis to demonstrate his guilt before the law.

Current legislation establishes that lying in front of an authority carries prison sentences of two to six years and fines of one hundred to three hundred days, according to Article 311 of the Penal Code of Mexico City. In light of this situation, Andrés Atayde, coordinator of the PAN Caucus, has pointed out the need to straighten out the selection process of the Committee to ensure transparency and legitimacy in decisions related to the future of the capital.

Additionally, the City Government has been urged to issue the corresponding call to carry out the replacement of the problematic member of the Selection Committee, who resigned after his irregular actions were revealed.
